ABOUT

Australian born saxophonist, Sarah Byron is an award-winning musician with performances in Australia, Croatia, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.

Sarah has performed as soloist in John Williams’ Escapades and given the Australian premiere of Michael Colgrass’ Urban Requiem with the Adelaide Wind Orchestra. In 2017, Sarah gave the European premiere of Elena Kats-Chernin’s ‘From Anna Magdalena’s Notebook’ at the 2017 European Saxophone Congress in Porto with the Coalesce Saxophone Quartet. 

In 2018 Sarah presented at the World Saxophone Congress in Croatia with Sam Rodwell (Guitar) as saxophone and guitar chamber duo, performing the world premiere Hush by Carmel Smickersgill alongside Andy Scott's Nemesis. 

Other notable performances include performances with the Australian Saxophone Orchestra, Sheffield Cathedral Choir and the Band Of Her Majesty's Royal Marines (Portsmouth).

In 2018 Sarah completed her Masters of Music Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music. Sarah’s postgraduate studies were generously supported by the Muriel Berry and Gyles Thomas Lyth Scholarships.

 

In 2019 Sarah co-founded South Australian Clarinets and Saxophones; an organisation dedicated to developing the woodwind community in South Australia. More information can be found at www.awo.org.au/sacs

Sarah is now residing as a freelance musician in Adelaide (Australia) and is interested in performing new music of all styles, continuing her regular performances with chamber and larger ensembles, and developing her teaching method including incorporating the Dalcroze Eurhythmics methodology.
